Devils Tower

Sunday, May 16, 2010 - Day 19

It has been several days since I have updated the blog, so I guess I'll finish it now.

My last blog entry stated that we were in Popular Bluff, Missouri and would be heading to Tennessee the next day.  We did arrive at my mom's house on Tuesday, and the ride was uneventful except for a stop at Patti's Restaurant in Grand River, KY.

Patti's is known locally as the place to eat.  They have an extensive menu including a 2" pork chop.  For those that have a desert in mind, you can choose from 17 different deserts.  After lunch, we made the short 100 mile drive to mom's house.

Wednesday we just hung around the house resting up from the trip.  We did run a couple of errands, and of course I had to have my Krystal's burgers for lunch.  Since we got back a bit early from the Devils Tower trip, I decided to take Liz down to see her mother for a day.  We are going to be in Mobile Saturday to our annual visit to my father's grave.

Liz and I took off Thursday morning heading to Dothan, AL, taking the by-ways.  After a wrong turn, and a closed road that made us detour about 50 miles we made it to Liz's mother's house.

Friday was just a hang around day visiting with Liz's mother.  Saturday morning we headed to Mobile where we met up with my brother, mother, and Jane,  We visited my fathers grave and then went to the motel where we had reservations in Saraland, AL.

Sunday Liz and I were thinking about stopping at a casino for a night before returning to Houston, but we changed our minds and decided we were tired of restaurant food, so we drove on in to home.  We arrived at the house around 1:30 PM.

It was a great trip, Liz and I had a lot of fun.  Looks like next year I am going to take mom to see the Liberty Bell.

Our next trip will be in about a week when we go to El Paso for Liz's national bowling tournament.  I haven't decided if I am going to blog that trip or not.
