We woke up around 6:00 AM to find that Ronnie was visiting us. We have heard that the storm was going to make land fall during the night, but we were not concerned since the storm has been down graded to a depression and maybe even to just a storm. The rain was coming down hard, but since were not on bikes, it really didn't matter.
Liz did not feel like eating, so I went down to the breakfast bar and grabbed something to eat. Nice continental breakfast, they had eggs, bacon, sausage, and all the normal bread and cereals. Of course I was not concerned with the cereals, but the bacon and sausage did hold my interest for a while.
We hauled our stuff out to the front door of the motel to find the rain was really coming down. Luckily I was parked near the front door, so I grabbed the car and pulled in under the cover. We were loaded in no time and on our way to Liz's mothers.
There is not much to say about the rest of the day. I took all back roads and the weather was crap. We kept going through the storm bands, and it would go from heavy rain to sunshine and then back again. This continued through the entire day. I don't remember what time we left the motel, but it was around 7:00 AM.
We did get lost in Hattiesburg, MS, or at least I should say I got lost. The sad part is I have a GPS in the car. The road system in that town are really screwed up, and them having a strategick road closed didn't help. We did have a nice scenic tour of the town while trying to figure out how to get out of it.
Later we stopped in Chatom, AL and grabbed a couple of great breakfast sandwiches at a local dive. The most interesting thing of the day, is while on one of the back roads in Alabama I notice a bear crossing sign. I kid you not, there was a bear crossing road sign in southeast Alabama. I didn't even know they had any bears in this part of the country.
We did make a stop at Fred's Discount Store in Andalusia, AL mainly to stretch our legs. Not to self; to not take Liz into department store to stretch legs. We finally arrived at Liz's mothers house around 3:00 PM. Dinner was pizza for them and Krystal's burgers for me.
Tomorrow we start heading north. Not sure where we will end up, but I bet somewhere in Tennessee.
