Heading East - Day 4

We woke up to a cloudy day in Dalton, GA.  The route I was planning to take appeared to be covered in rain, so I decided to make a detour to try and get around the rain.

We jumped on Interstate 75 and went north to Knoxville where we got off the freeway for the rest of the day.  Just after we exited the freeway we noticed a Dollar General Market, so we had to stop and check it out.  The other reason was that we were out of soda.

I have never heard of a Dollar General Market, but it turned out to be a Dollar General Store that includes a complete grocery store.  The prices were great, I wish we had one by the house.  After a bit of shopping and stretching out legs, we continued on.

The day was very scenic as we entered the foot hills of the Smokey's, but there were not any places where we could pull over and take pictures.  Every road we went on had no shoulders and no place to pull over.  We all enjoyed the scenery and winding roads, some where we thought we were going to meet the folks from Deliverance.

We had excellent weather for the day, and the temperature were noticeably lower than the last couple of days.  We only got turned around once, and that is when I wanted to take a short cut to a Kentucky Parkway, but once there, we found there was no access to the road.  Oops, I was thinking we may have to turn around and backtrack for 20 miles,  but in the end a local came to the rescue and gave up directions on how to get on the Parkway.

We ended up for the night in Moorehead, KY.  Tomorrow we should be able to arrive at Liz's aunt's house in Ohio.

I may not have internet for the next couple of days, so if you don't see anything posted, that is why.
