Heading East - Day 5 - 6

07/28/10 - Wednesday

The day started off in Moorehead, KY hot and muggy.  It felt like we were still in Houston.  We pulled out of the motel around 8:00 AM and headed northeast on I-64 to Huntington, WV.

At Huntington we jumped off the interstate onto Highway 7 and followed the Ohio River for some distance.  A very scenic road.  We passed through numerous small towns and communities.  We had an excellent view of the river while driving, but like most roads we have been on the last couple of days, there were no places where we could just pull over and snap a few pictures.

While driving through some small town we stumbled upon the oldest standing courthouse in Ohio.

You can read about it here.

The rest of the day was fairly uneventful.  We arrived at Liz's Aunts house around 3:00 PM, and it was basically the women chatting after that.

I am suppose to head to Philadelphia on Friday, but I think I will leave on Thursday instead.

07/29/10 - Thursday

I decided to head to Philadelphia today instead of tomorrow.  The women are just going to be sitting around talking and such, so there is not need for me to hang around and listen.

I pulled out around 6:00 AM, and it was easy to see it may be a long day due to the rain.  I did not want to drive through Pittsburg during rush hour traffic, so I decided to take a southern route around the city to the south.

First I headed south on Highway 2 and somewhere down the road I turrned east onto another highway.  I guess I need to start keeping track of this stuff.  I eventually ran into Interstate 70, so because of the rain I jumped on it and continued east.

One thing I learned about Pennsvalinia is there is not one mile of interstate that is not under some type of repair work.  I have never seen so much road construction in my life.  Mile after mile with the speed limit being mostly 45 or 55 miles per hour.  Once in a while the speed limit will jump up to 65, but then you run into construction and down it goes again.

Traffic wasn't to bad and I arrived at my destination, (Bensalem) , which is just north of Philly around 2:00 PM.  The rest of the weekend will be visiting with friends, so I probably won't be blogging until Monday night.
