Day 3 started with us waking up around 6:30 AM. We decided on a late start since is would be a low mileage day. We decided last night to have breakfast at the Shoney's located just down the street. They have a buffet breakfast that was pretty good.
Just a shot of Doug walking toward the bikes in the Shoney's parking lot.
The group split up, with Dan and Doug heading east to Lynchburg, and Dick and I heading west back to the Trace. After a quick gas stop, Dick and I got back on the Natchez Trace and headed north. After a few miles we noticed a pull out with some more examples of the old trial.
One of the three alternate trails.
When we pulled in, I noticed a pickup truck was parked. Inside the truck was a male and female and I am not sure what they were doing, but after meeting the guy a few minutes later he told us he only live about 5 miles away. I think there may have been some hanky panky goning on and we may have interrupted. I did ask the guy to take a picture of Dick and me, which he did. After he handed my camera back, I got to thinking about where his hands may have been. OOPs
Dick and yours truly
.
After our break we headed down the road for a ways until we saw the Historic Meriwether Lewis Grave Site. We pulled off to check it out. I was surprised to find out he was only 35 years old when he died. The man did a lot in the few years he was alive.
The monument over his grave.

Our bikes
To get to my moms house, I decided to take the feery that croses the Cumberland River at Cumberland City, TN. The ferry cost $1.00 for vehicles with non Tennessee plates.
We arrived at my moms at around 1:00 PM. What a lousy day, sunny skies, cool temperatures, great scenery. It really sucks to be me.
I will not be doing a blog tomorrow. On Monday I will go with my mother to a doctor's appointment. We will be back on the road on Tuesday, so I will try to update the blog then, assuming I will have an internet connection
