HEADING EAST - THE RIGHT WAY - ON BIKES

Wednesday - October 6, 2010 - Day 6

Every morning should start with a breakfast like this.
We all agreed last night to be up and rolling by 7:00 AM to go across the freeway to eat breakfast at the Perkins restaurant.  Well, at 6:30 AM we were pulling out to go have breakfast.  After breakfast, we headed south towards the Foothills Parkway.

It was fairly cool with temperatures in the high 30's.  There was very little traffic on the Parkway, and the scenery was excellent.

The Parkway ends at US Highway 129, which happens to be the highway that leads to Deals Gap.  Deals Gap or the Dragon as some call it is considered to be one of the top 10 motorcycling roads in the United States.  I don't agree with that, but it is a fun road to ride, epically today.

A sign all motorcyclist love to see.

We had a bit of a mishap today.  Well at least Dick did.  I guess Dick got going a bit to fast which resulted in his trailer flipping over.  As I pulled up I couldn't stop laughing.  You have to understand, only Dick would have a $35,000 machine and pull the cheapest most ugliest trailer that can be found.

A couple of days ago I made the comment that Dick could not make his trailer more uglier.  I was wrong, all he had to do was flip it on it's side and drive down the road a ways.

It all worked out, Dick and Dan got the trailer turned over, and it was still able to roll, though a bit uglier.

After Deals Gap we headed to the Cherohala Skyway in North Carolina.  This is another excellent road for motorcyclist.  Below are a few pictures I snapped.

We stopped for lunch at some burger shack in Tellico Plains.  The burgers were OK, but the best part was it was right next to the river.

We arrived back at the motel around 5:00 PM.  It was a long day of perfect weather, temperatures, and scenery.

Not sure what we are doing tomorrow.  We discussed going to a motorcycle museum in Ashville.  I guess we will figure it out tomorrow.
