Dick and I left my mom's house around 8:00 AM this morning. The plan was to meet back up with Doug and Dan at the Jim Bean Distillery in Clermount, KY. Doug and Dan spent the night in Moorehead, Ky last night, so it should be a short drive for both of us.
We stopped for breakfast at Mikes Pit BBQ in Guthrie, KY. I changed us this morning and decided to have scramble eggs, bacon, and grilled potatoes with onions.
The picture of it may look good, but I think the eggs were those carton scramble type. The bacon was good, but the eggs and potatoes were so so.
After breakfast, we headed north on US Highway 79. Clermont, KY is located just south of Louisville, KY. We only had about a 200 mile drive ahead of of.
Some pictures of the drive to Clermont, KY. The colors are really starting to show.
We took the tour at the Jim Bean Distillery. I felt it was a bit lame, but I did learn a few things about the process of making Bourbon.
The mandatory picture of our tour guide.
One of a number of warehouses where they store the barrels. Jim Bean ages their bourbon at least 4 years. This warehouse can hold up to 20 thousand barrels. Some of the other warehouses can hold up to 50 thousand barrels.
Tomorrow we are heading to Fort Knox to visit the George Patton museum, and hopefully drive by the bullion depository. After that I'm not sure what we are going to do.
