HEADING EAST - THE RIGHT WAY - ON BIKES

FRIDAY; 10-15-10 - DAY 15

Sorry, no breakfast picture today.  We ate at the Denny's next door to the motel and I forgot my camera.  I did have eggs, bacon, hash browns and sour dough toast.

After breakfast we headed to the General George Patton Museum.  We arrived just at opening time, and were the first ones inside.

The museum turned out to be a big let down.  All they had was one small room with some of Patton's stuff.  The rest of the museum was closed because they are in the process of moving the CAV exhibits to Fort Benning.

After leaving the museum, we drove a short distance down the road to take a look at the US Gold Depository.  Your not suppose to stop, but we did and took a picture or two.

We expected to spend half a day at the museum, but it turned out we were all done by 9:30 AM.  The question was what do we do now?

It was sort of left up to me to decide, so I headed to Indiana.  We crossed the Ohio River at Brandenburg, KY.  As soon as we crossed the river, I turned off onto some no named road.  What a great ride this turned out to be.  The road kept getting narrower and narrower, but it remained paved.  The scenery we excellent.

We eventually ended up heading west on Highway 62.  In Leavenworth, IN.  We found this country store, and were only planning to stop and get a drink, but they had fired bologna sandwiches.  Needless to say we had to have one.

After our break we continued heading west, and then south, and then north, we just sort of turned when we felt like it.  One surprise was on some county road near Huffman, IN, we found an old covered bridge.  It is not used anymore, but it was built in 1863.

We eventually ended up in French Lick, IN, in some local motel.  Pizza was for supper.  We had a great ride today.  The weather, scenery, and roads were perfect.

Not sure about tomorrow, we will see what happens.
