WOW, what a difference a day can make. The day started before sunrise. After the bikes were loaded we headed across the freeway to the local gas station / MickyD's. After filling up the bikes, we then proceeded to fill ourselves up with the finest that MickyD's has to offer.
With both bikes and bodies fueled, we headed into the unknown. When I say unknown, I really mean unknown. Today we are being led by Dick, who spent two hours last night inputting his selected route into his GPS. In over 20 years of riding with Dick, I do not recall him ever leading an entire day's ride. This ought to be fun.
I can say the first 10 miles in Missouri was better than the entire day of riding in Illinois. Dick did select some excellent roads. They had all a motorcyclist dream about. The roads were scenic, curvy, and for the most part in good condition.
Dick was setting a brisk pace, but that is OK, I was bringing up the rear taking a bunch of pictures. Nothing really exciting happened except that it was a great ride. Dick did an excellent job of selecting a route.

We did stop for lunch at a roadside cafe in Grove, MO. It is the standard country cafe with no frills. These es are quickly becoming a thing of the past. The had a special for the day. Chili Dog, French Fries, coleslaw, choice of drink, and either Sweet Potato Pie, or Apple Cobbler for desert. It came at the high price of $5.59. We all elected to go with the special, except Doug and I choose to have an extra dog. Big mistake, these Chili Dogs were hugh. It was an excellent mean for the price. Matter of fact it would have been an excellent meal at a higher price.
The only thing funny that happened is when we arrived in Mountain Home, AR. We planned to spend the night here, and as always trying to find a motel turns into an event. The first thing that happened was while we were in the middle of town in two different lanes, Dan decided that he needed to pull off into a gas station. He pulls off and states on the CB “I'll see y'all at the motel”. The problem was we have not selected a motel, so how is he going to see us there when we don't even know where we are going to be.
By now we were in three moving lanes of traffic and I see Doug cut across two lanes and turn right. Dick was right behind Doug. Now I had a problem, I was in a must turn left lane, and there was far to much traffic for me to get over. In a matter of seconds we were all going in three different directions, and we still have not selected a motel.
It all worked out, we fond a motel, and the rate was surprisingly low. We decided to eat at the motel's restaurant, and as far as I am concerned, it was a bad choice.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is grim. It looks like rain for the entire day. Were heading south and plan to be back in Texas tomorrow, but were not sure what route we are going to take.
