BBFO 2011 - Day 4

Sunday: January 29, 2011

Sorry no pictures for the last two days

I guess I need to finish up Blogging this trip.

Sunday stated out bright and early with a short ride to Alice's Restaurant in Marfa.  We have eaten here several times before, and as always it is an experience to be served by Alice herself.  Alice's Restaurant is a family style restaurant where the meals are served in typical West Texas fashion.  This means you get your meal one at a time, and by the time the last person gets their order, the first person is usually done.  Sometimes the orders are exactly what you ordered, and sometimes they are not. The food is always good, and you just can't beat the atmosphere.  Brian hadn't been feeling well, so after breakfast he decided to head for home.

After breakfast we decided to do the Davis Mountain Loop.  It was a scenic ride and the weather could not have been more perfect.  Some thought it might have been a bit on the cool side, but as far as I am concerned it was a perfect day for riding.

When we arrived in Fort Davis, Chuck broke off from us and headed for home.  The rest of us headed to Alpine to visit the Big Bend Museum at Sul Ross University.  Turns out the museum would not open until 2:00 PM, but we found out from a local the cafeteria was serving and all you can eat brunch, and she claimed it was excellent food.  Later I will disagree with here, but I'm starting to jump ahead.

After lunch we just took our time heading back to Sanderson, enjoying the weather and scenery.  Just east of Marathon, we stopped at a picnic area and pulled out the chairs and just chilled out a while.  John had been hearing some strange knocking noise coming from his trike, so he and Doug tried to figure out where it was coming from and what it was.  They were unable to find the source of the knock, so John figured he would check it out more when we get back home.

We arrived in Sanderson early, and spent the rest of the day just chilling out and enjoying the weather.  We grabbed something to eat at the truck stop across the street and I think most of us had Hot Dogs.  We did make a decision to drive all the way home tomorrow because some crappy weather was heading our way.  Since tomorrow was going to be a long day, we all turned in fairly early.  John, Doug and I just didn't know how long of a day tomorrow was actually going to be.
