SPRING FEVER 2011 - DAY 3

MONDAY - APRIL 25, 2011

Our day started  with breakfast at the Alamo Grill.  Our waitress was kind enough to take a group picture.

Fred - Chuck - Bill - Dick

I decided to break from my normal eggs and ham, so insted I had some Mexican dish.  It was shreded beef with eggs, rice and beans.  I know it looks like crap, but it was really very good.

We headed west on Highway 70 to Los Crucses, NM where we turned north onto I-25.  We took a short break at a Rest Stop and then continued north on I-25 to Hatch, NM where we exited.  After gassing up we headed west on NM 26 to NM 27 where we turned north.  This is where the ride begins.

NM 27 is a very scenic road, and one of my favorite roads to ride.  Great scenery, twisty road, what more could you ask for.

NM 25 ends at NM 152 in Hillsboro.  We turned west on 152 and headed to Silver City.  NM 152 is an even better road than 27.  Mountain grades, curvey roads, and great scenery.  After stopping a couple of times, we continued on to Silver City.

CHUCK IN ONE OF THE MANY CURVES ON NM 152

After lunch at some crappy restaurant with poor service, we headed out north on US 180.  Another great scenic road.  We only had about a hundred miles to go to our destination, so we were trying to kill some time.  In Cliff, NM we, or at least I decided to take a break at a coffee shop.  I guess you could call it a coffiee shop.

THE COFFEE SHOP

It was a one horse operation in a one horse town.  I don't drink coffee, but the guys said it was good.  I had some drink with carbonated water and some flavoring.  Wasn't to bad.

We stopped for gas in Glenwood, NM where when paying for some drinks I was buying the owners dog stole my money.  It was funny as hell.  I was handing the moeny to the lady when the dog jumps up on the counter, grabbed my five dollars and took off.  The lady never batted an eye, she just game me my change and told me she will get the money from him later.

THE THIEF (MAX)

We continued north on US 180, stopping one more time before arriving in Alpine, AZ.  After checking into the motel, we just hung out and chatted about the day.

We had dinner at one of the two local restaurants.  I don't remember it's name. but I had the chopped steak and it was pretty good.

Tomorrow we head down Us 191 (Devils Highway) to location unknown.
